Croup

• Take your child to hospital urgently if:

• Sucking in of the breast bone occurs on breathing and the child is having to work harder when breathing

• If the stridor develops when the child is at rest

• If the child looks sick or become restless and distressed

• If the child is seen by a doctor and is diagnosed with moderately severe Croup, he/she may recommend treating the child with Cortisone which will often prevent the child from being admitted to hospital and therefore can be nursed at home.
